SUMMER WORK on Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist:
- Full-Page Reflection on One Literary Aspect*: Write about one particular element of style or structure in Coelho’s writing that fascinated or intrigued you. Explain how that aspect plays out or develops throughout the book and why it interests you. (*Literary Aspect = a feature or element of the novel such as: a theme, message, narrative voice, setting, symbolism, gender roles, class divisions…) — 5 points
- Portrait-based / annotated Character List: Choose 5 characters from the novel. For each character you choose, draw an original sketch of how you picture that character, including specific details from Coelho’s descriptions. Along with your portrait, include a list of his/her personality traits, role or purpose in the story, and most important or interesting choices / actions — 10 points
